More than 500 bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree candidates will receive their diplomas at Delaware State University’s 2017 Commencement Ceremony, which will be held outdoors at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 13.
The ceremony will be held outdoors at Alumni Stadium on campus rain or shine.
The 2017 Commencement’s keynote speaker will be U.S. Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester, the first woman and African American to serve the state of Delaware as an elected member of Congress. Gov. John Carney and U.S. Sen. Thomas R. Carper will also be participants in the ceremony.
Media representatives who will be in attendance to cover the May 13 Commencement should call Carlos Holmes, director of DSU News Services, on his cell phone at (302) 399-5972 upon arrival to the campus. He will provide each media representative with a media pass that will give access to the graduate area on the football field.
On the preceding day at 5 p.m. Friday, May 12, the DSU Department of Nursing will celebrate graduates in the traditional Nurse Pinning Ceremony in the Education and Humanities Theatre. That event is also free and open to the public; no media passes are required for the Nurse Pinning Ceremony.
Media representatives planning to cover the Commencement ceremony will need to obtain a media pass from Carlos Holmes, director of News Services at DSU, to have access to the ceremony field area. His contact information is at the top of this release.
