Responsibilities:
The Director of Campus Housing is responsible for providing overall leadership and direction for the development of campus housing programs, operations, and services that function within the mission of the College and provides fiscal oversight for housing operations and programs.

The Director oversees residential facilities that are safe, accessible, and well-maintained that leads to recruitment, retention, and student success. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Students, the Director of Campus Housing will specifically oversee all housing processes (such as move in/out, room selection, residential occupancy); facilities management of all housing (maintenance, custodial); capital planning and construction; business and administrative services; information systems; marketing/promotion, and overnight accommodations for summer conferences.

Responsible for a housing operation that serves over 1,600 residents, which includes six themed living-learning options for students, the Director of Campus Housing must work closely with the Associate Dean's areas of Residential Experience and New Student and Family Programs to create marketing and communication strategies, optimal facilities and quality living and learning communities.

Working with the Housing staff, Dean of Students staff, and colleagues within the Division of Student Life, the Director oversees the development of programs and services to meet the needs of the resident students. The Director is responsible for housing revenue, an annual operating budget, and with Facilities management, the maintenance and construction reserves. With the Dean of Students and Associate Dean of Students, the Director leads efforts to design and construct additional campus housing as needed.

Function/Responsibilities:

LEADERSHIP AND ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGEMENT:
• Manage and operate Campus Housing as a self-sustaining auxiliary operations of the College, including oversight of analyzing and projecting all statistics, capacities, assignments, availability, tracking, billing and budget.
• Develop objectives and priorities for Campus Housing in addition to off-campus options.
• Along with Facilities Services, continuously inspect residence halls and develop a 5-year renovation plan that allows for regular maintenance, necessary upgrades and maximum occupancy of residence halls.
• Assist in the determination of final room and board aspects of new academic sessions throughout the year.
• Assist living-learning communities in recruitment and placement of students.
• Establish housing rates for Conference Services to be used by contracted outside user groups.
• The Director works in concert with Sodexo Dining Services to ensure that the combined programs of Campus Housing and Dining Services is seamless, productive, functional, and responsive to the needs of students and the campus in general.
• Provide rationale to senior management on how to best utilize existing residential facilities in order to maximize bed space and revenue year round.

FACILITIES AND STRATEGIC PLANNING:
• Collaborate closely with Dean of Students, Associate Dean of Students, and the Director of Residential Experience as well as members of Facilities Services/Physical Plant on facilities renovations and ongoing construction projects in the residence halls.
• Seeking information and ensuring that students and residential staff are kept abreast as to what may affect their experience on campus.

ASSESSEMENT, REPORTS, AND POLICY:
• Develop on-campus housing policies and procedures, including move-in and move-out, room selection, room assignments, and service and assistance animals; work with • Community Life for the enforcement of policies.
• Evaluate, assess, and enhance StarRez housing software.
• Work with Student Disability Services to provide appropriate accommodations and strategically plan for housing needs.
• Work closely with the Associate Dean of Students and Housing staff to develop an annual housing assessment process.
• Serve as the main source of central information for reports and analysis regarding housing on campus.
• Manages residential occupancy through careful coordination and collaboration with other departments around campus.

HOUSING COORDINATION OF SUMMER CONFERENCES:
• Primary contact and liaison for the Office of Meetings, Events, and Conferences • Services and their summer staff regarding housing for guests.
• Provide quality service to conference clients, both external and internal.
• Actively participate in room and key prep process, check-in and check-out procedures.
• Serve as a resource of information on utilizing campus facilities.
• Train summer staff prior to the Conference season.

SUPERVISION AND TRAINING:
• Recruit, select, train, evaluate, and directly supervise one Housing Operations Manager and several student workers.
• Active participant in the annual Resident Advisor Training, Resident Director Training, Summer Guest Hosts Training, and ongoing training for residential staff and summer conference services staff.

Experience and Qualifications:
Education Required: Master's degree in higher education administration, college student personnel administration, business, or related field.

Experience: 5-7 years of progressive experience in higher education and/or financial management in the context of auxiliary operations.

Skills/Abilities:
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skils
• Strong fiscal management skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in higher education student development theory, risk management and legal issues
• Experience working closely with students from diverse backgrounds in a higher education setting
• Demonstrated ability to speak effectively in public; demonstrated experience working collaboratively with students, staff, and faculty in a wide variety of College committees, departments, and/or student organizations to develop and implement programmatic or new initiatives
• Experience in dealing with complex issues and solving them with innovative strategies.

Other Requirements: Frequent interaction with students around the campus, regular presence at campus programs and activities. Weekend and evening work required.
