Kendrick Meek Up 8 Points Over Greene In New Campaign Poll (528 hits)

MIAMI GARDENS, FLA.- The Kendrick Meek campaign released an internal memo today from Meek campaign pollster Diane Feldman detailing the results of a new poll taken of likely Democratic primary voters earlier this week. The poll shows Kendrick's lead over Jeff Greene has increased to 8 points and leaves little doubt who has the momentum in the race.
"Kendrick Meek has developed a commanding lead over Jeff Greene in Florida's Democratic Senate primary. Among all voters who say they will probably vote on August 24th, Kendrick leads by 38 percent to 30 percent. Among voters who have participated in each of the last four Democratic primaries, Kendrick leads by 44 percent to 28 percent," said Diane Feldman, Kendrick Meek campaign pollster in a memo to the campaign.

Re: Florida Democratic Primary
Kendrick Meek has developed a commanding lead over Jeff Greene in Florida's Democratic Senate primary. Among all voters who say they will probably vote on August 24th, Kendrick leads by 38 percent to 30 percent. Among voters who have participated in each of the last four Democratic primaries, Kendrick leads by 44 percent to 28 percent.

Kendrick's favorable ratings have largely recovered from the heavy pounding of Greene's negative television ads. Kendrick has a 15-point advantage in favorable over unfavorable ratings and retains the majority favorable ratings he has consistently enjoyed in the Miami media market. Kendrick 's favorable ratings in the Orlando and Tampa markets have grown by 8 and 12 points respectively in the last two weeks.

In contrast, Greene's favorable ratings, which grew to 29 percent while he dominated the airwaves, have receded to 24 percent with 32 percent unfavorable. Greene's unfavorable ratings are higher than his favorable in each of the three largest media markets. In the Miami market, Greene's favorable ratings have receded from 29 percent to 18 percent.

Kendrick has been on the air less than Greene but his advertising has been sufficient to communicate his message. Those who recall Kendrick's advertising, which began three weeks ago, support him by 45 percent to 29 percent.

Note: The survey was conducted August 9th through 11th among Democratic voters who had previously participated in Democratic primaries in the state. With a sample size of 800, the survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
