The West Virginia State University (WVSU) Economic Development Center (EDC) will host an open house for entrepreneurs and small business owners Tuesday, June 26, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. The free event will highlight the EDCfs business development resources, co-working space and video/audio production facilities.
gWe want to reintroduce to the community the many opportunities available here at the EDC,h said Business Development Extension Agent Gary Hampton. gFrom co-working space, to professional-grade video and voice production facilities, to educational resources supporting the growth of small business, the WVSU EDC is essentially a one-stop shop for economic development in the region.h
The EDC is home to WVSU Extension Servicefs planned business development program to assist existing businesses with opportunities to incubate and accelerate growth, as well as entrepreneurial skill development for new entrepreneurs who have an idea that they would like to commercialize. Such opportunities can help business owners strengthen their business operations for sustained growth, Hampton said. He plans to offer educational and business programs year-round at the EDC, covering different areas of business strategic development.
The WVSU EDC has been a fixture on Charlestonfs West Side since 2005, offering business and entrepreneurship training, office space leasing and other economic development functions. A renovation in 2012 added co-working space for creative entrepreneurs to have a flexible working environment, as well as a professional-grade green screen production studio, voice-recording studio and editing bay.
