The latest NCAA D2 rankings are out and one CIAA school is in. Six CIAA men’s players are among the leaders in the country.

Six CIAA men’s basketball players are in the top five in the nation for individual statistical categories, in the latest NCAA Division II rankings. Shaw University’s Amir Hinton leads DII in points per game, averaging 31.8, while Bowie State’s Cameron Hayes holds the top spot in free throw percentage (94.4).
Hinton’s also holds two of the top five single game records this season, scoring 52 points against Tampa and 49 points in Shaw’s 95-90 OT win over Barton. He’s also first and tied for second in both free throws (28 and 27) and field goals made (19 and 18) and is tied for third in steals (8).
Saiquan Jamison (Bowie State) is 4th in rebounds (11.5/per game) with Gus Rowlan (Chowan) ranked fourth in assists (7.6 per game). Two players are ranked in block shots per game with Tyjhai Byers of Elizabeth City State and Will Brown of Fayetteville State ranked fourth (2.71) and fifth (2.57), respectively. Brown tied for second in single-game blocked shots with 8.
Virginia State’s Jamal Smith recorded the most assists in a single-game this season with 21.
In the latest D2SIDA Atlantic Region ranking, Virginia State University (15-3) jumps up from the No.5 spot to No. 3.
