Join the Alabama State University Mighty Marching Hornets Band TODAY as it is featured nationwide giving a special performance this evening with Lester Holt on the NBC Nightly News beginning at 5:30 p.m. (CST), which may be viewed locally on WSFA TV 12.
The Hornet Band, under the direction of Dr. James Oliver, will march and perform as it joins Lester and the NBC national news team as it broadcasts live from the steps of Montgomery's historic Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church, as part of NBC's "Across America Tour."
ASU ALUMNA ALSO FEATURED ON NBC NATIONAL NEWS
NBC's national anchor will also interview ASU alumna Althea Thomas ('54) who has been playing the organ at the Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church since Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was its pastor.
PRESIDENT ROSS INTERVIEWED 'LIVE' @ 4 p.m. TODAY ON WSFA 12
Tune in to WSFA TV 12 at 4 p.m. today as ASU President Quinton T. Ross, Jr. is interviewed 'live' by anchor Sally Pitts about the band and its upcoming performance with the NBC National News at 5:30 p.m.
HORNET NATION/PUBLIC IS INVITED TO BE PRESENT
The Hornet Nation and the general public is invited to be a part of this 'Live' national television event today as the Mighty Marching Hornets Band is featured nationwide on the NBC Nightly News.
Come out and cheer on the band and watch the 'live' newscast today by coming to the designated viewing area reserved for spectators, which will be on the sidewalks lining Dexter Avenue between Bainbridge and Decatur Streets (from the State Capitol to the Dexter/King Church).
BE IN PLACE BY 5 P.M.
Please be in place within the viewing area no later than 5 p.m. and enter on foot, as all car traffic will be prohibited.
There is no designated parking for this event, so please plan accordingly. Note that all of the City parking decks will be open and available throughout downtown.
