This position is located in the Audiology and Speech Pathology Service within the Greater Los Angeles VA Health Care System (GLAVAHCS). While duties are typically accomplished at one site within the system, to be determined, the duties and responsibilities include all clinical and other patient care areas involved with the service as well as supervisory/managerial duties that may require travel to other sites to confer with Service or other Healthcare System personnel.

Duties are not limited to:
In addition to responsibilities at the Full Performance Level, the incumbent is responsible for the supervision, administrative management, and direction of the audiology programs in a unified complex, multi-site Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Service. Incumbent has responsibility for general and technical supervision of key clinical or training programs and overall technical and administrative oversight of audiologists depending on grade level as well as audiology health technicians. Included in these responsibilities are: the establishment of clinic schedules, distribution of workload among staff audiologists, monitoring staff workload to ensure the quality and quantity meet or exceed established guidelines, serves as first-line supervisor of staff audiologists, audiology health technicians and clerical staff assigned to audiology, establishes performance plans and completes performance appraisals for said staff including recommendations for actions based on positive or negative reviews. The incumbent ensures the Service's Policy and Procedure Guidelines are implemented and followed to provide consistent high quality service delivery at each of the clinical sites with GLAVAHCS. The Section Chief also participates in the evaluation, recommendation and selection of candidates for audiology positions.
The incumbent may perform ancillary duties within the Service or GLAVAHCS as called upon.
The Supervisory Audiologist may serve as Acting Service Chief in the Service Chief's absence.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. work schedule. Schedule may be adjusted to meet the needs of the service.
