The PTC is designed to fully integrate all facets of Prosthetics programs with specialized clinical disciplines and facility leadership in order to deliver personalized, proactive, and patient-driven health care. Incumbent serves in an engaged role of patient care providing Veterans with the appropriate orthotic and/or prosthetic devices and treatment and will often be part of a collaborative team. Incumbent provides customer service and support, understands and implements mission goals and objectives of the VA. VACO, VISN, facility and section, and complies with Joint Commission and American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics (ABC).
This work requires a specialized knowledge of the medical and psychological problems directly related to the use of prosthetic devices; and a specialized knowledge and understanding of the fabrication and satisfactory fitting of prosthetic devices.
The certified Orthotist-Prosthetist incumbent must have analytical ability, social awareness, tact and diplomacy, and good communication skills. Incumbent must possess knowledge of established management principles, concepts and methodology to identify, analyze and resolve managerial and administrative issues or problems of a procedural or factual nature. Incumbent must be able to anticipate the need for action, take action and follow-up and/or follow through. Incumbent must also possess the ability to deal effectively with individuals and groups and to adjust to difficult or stressful situations. Incumbent must possess an active practitioner certificate as an Orthotist-Prosthetist (CPO) from ABC or BOC at all times.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Subject to change based on the needs of the agency.
