Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Provides executive leadership and direct supervision to the Nurse Managers over nursing staff working in Primary Care.Research and evidence- based investigations are included in responsibilities, as the incumbent reviews nursing and healthcare literature and facilitates implementation related to outcomes.Oversees orientation and education of subordinate staff and works collaboratively with the Nurse Manager of Education to facilitate educational programs.Assesses, plans, and evaluates the processes and daily operations of the Primary Care clinics.In collaboration with the interdisciplinary service chiefs, designs and implements interdisciplinary programs within the service and medical center.Performs all administrative functions that include administration, human resources management, budget and finance, management and program analysis.Responsible for assessing and recommending the allocation of human and materiel resources, managing overtime, and plays a significant role in the recruitment and retention of clinical and administrative staff. Ensures competency assessment is completed on each subordinate employee annually, according to the Donna Wright competency model.Reviews EPRP, VASQUIP, IPEC, Performance Measures, and other data for trends and early intervention; formulates follow-up plans with Nurse Executive Team, Nurse Managers, Administrative and Primary Care staff from other disciplines.Collaborates with the nursing leaders across the health system and the Associate Director for Patient Care Service/Nurse Executive on all aspects of Nursing Care.The Associate Chief of Nursing Services for Primary Care has the direct responsibility for the operations for Primary Care at our main campus, and of all CBOCs associated with the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center (and other sites to-be- determined). Primary Care collaborates with providers, audiologists, optometrists, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to accomplish effective and efficient provision of care.Works collaboratively with other programs, such as Home-Based Primary Care, MyHealtheVet, Compensation and Pension and the Emergency Department to facilitate Veteran-Centric care, optimize care coordination and achieve continuous improvement.
