Job Description

Guardant's Reveal project is applying cutting-edge methods in next-generation sequencing (NGS) to develop blood-based, non-invasive approaches to detect minimal residual disease after curative intent therapy and monitor for cancer recurrence. Reveal seeks to leverage Guardant's leadership in the field of liquid biopsy to address a core unmet need in clinical cancer care. Its success is being driven by a team of highly-motivated experts such as yourself, passionate about the potential to revolutionize the field of cancer diagnosis and management thus saving patient lives.

As a member of the Reveal team, you'll be responsible for optimizing and improving Guardant's cancer recurrence detection assay by designing critical experiments and analyzing the resulting data. You will also work to develop appropriate quality control metrics to monitor assay performance. This will require summarizing and presenting data to a diverse audience of functional teams, making recommendations leading to assay improvements. You'll be working closely with multiple functional teams - including laboratory scientists, software engineers, and testing and quality engineers - providing excellent opportunities to interact with and learn from a large number of specialists.

Qualifications

  • PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, molecular biology, cancer genomics or related fields, or M.S. and 3+ years relevant experience

  • Strong understanding of molecular biology and genomics

  • Proficiency in Python for experimental data analysis, statistical methods, and visualization

  • Expertise in next-generation sequencing data generation and processing - from raw reads to biological insight

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, ability work across functional teams 

  • Ability to make a difference in a fast-paced startup environment

Preferred

  • Experience in cancer biology

  • Wet lab and experimental design experience 

  • Experience using distributed, high-performance computing Linux environments
