Tenure track instructors in the Mathematics Department have duties in both teaching and governance. Candidates should be committed to improving student education both directly (through high-impact and effective instruction) and indirectly (through service to the department, college and community aimed at improving student success at Bellevue College).
A successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to teaching mathematics at an open-enrollment institution. Individuals with a history of ongoing contribution to multi-cultural and equitable environments, and who have experience providing support to underrepresented populations in STEM fields are particularly encouraged to apply.
Review of applications begins on 1/15/18 with a final due date of 1/30/18 to receive full consideration. This position will start Fall Quarter, 2018.
Qualifications & Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A successful application will demonstrate that the applicant meets the following criteria:
Master's degree in Mathematics from an accredited institution – OR – Master's degree from an accredited institution combined with significant coursework in Mathematics
Experience teaching the first two years of collegiate Mathematics (algebra through differential equations) or relevant skills to do so effectively
Experience or preparation to implement equitable teaching practices that have positive impact on students that struggle in a traditional math classroom
Effective communication skills (to students and colleagues) in both written and oral form
Experience completing tasks independently and as part of a team
