What will you do?

  • This Product Management role is responsible for the Custom AmpliSeq business supporting Thermo Fisher Scientific's Next-Generation Sequencing solutions. In this mixed responsibility role the candidate will manage, 1) the AmpliSeq Designer (www.ampliseq.com) primer design website, which provides design creation, ordering, and manufacturing to customers, 2) The AmpliSeq White Glove Service for creation of custom-tailored designs matching ever evolving customer needs, and 3), The AmpliSeq HD product line available for specialty designs seeking to achieve ultra-low levels of detection (LOD) and high sensitivity.
  • This is a pivotal role in a highly matrixed organization and will require interactions with Customers, R&D, Sales, Support, Marketing, Finance, Executives, IT, Legal, Manufacturing, Operations, Regulatory, Customer Service and more, across many countries and time zones. In this role you will be fully responsible for supporting business opportunities where custom panels are key to making customers successful and demonstrate Thermo Fisher Scientific's leadership in the space.

  • Provide day-to-day product management guidance for sustaining products and new product initiatives.
  • Ownership of the product Roadmap with a short, mid, and long-term view.
  • In-depth expert product knowledge to help guide the direction of the product to be in line with the company’s overall vision.
  • Market oversight to stay ahead of customer needs and competition.
  • Voice-of-customer (VOC) collection to gather new or validate existing product requirements to ensure the Ampliseq portfolio continue to meet customer needs.
  • Establish key relationships with internal and external stakeholders to maximize communication and productivity.
  • Strategic thinking and tactical execution.
  • Prioritization of requirements with a keen eye on ROI
  • Creation of executive reports and communication to leadership

How will you get there?

  • BS, Masters or PhD(preferred) in bioinformatics, molecular biology, biochemistry/biophysics, computer science or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a product management role for a life science software and/or consumable products
  • Previous experience in Product Management of next-generation sequencing technologies is highly preferred.
  • Ability to lead and manage through influence.
  • Ability to collect, synthesize and explain complex concepts in layman terms is essential.
  • Ability to create financial models to justify investment in a new product and/or initiative.
  • Ability to work across different time zones is critical.
  • Ability to present clearly and concisely to different audiences including at the executive level.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving interdisciplinary team
  • Problem solving and solution oriented individual who embraces team work.
  • Travel international/national up to 20% (once Pandemic travel restrictions are lifted).

Preferred (Nice to have) Experience:

  • Master’s in business (MBA) preferred but not essential.
  • Previous experience with Ampliseq high desired.
  • Previous experience in a customer facing role such as Field Applications Scientist or Scientific Sales is preferred and a distinct advantage.
