The Digital team focuses on delivering a superior customer experience on petsmart.com and our mobile app. The team also guides revenue and profit growth for the digital business. Digital team associates focus on delivering initiatives that help our pet parents find and discover products, bring enterprise priorities to life digitally, design new user experiences, build new features and capabilities, and manage key omni-channel programs. We work to showcase our brand digitally through the lens of expertise and love and to provide a personalized experience for our consumers. The team takes a data-driven approach and leverages quantitative and qualitative insights to optimize the experience and make business decisions.

About the Job

SUMMARY

The Senior Manager, Digital Category Analytics is responsible for driving digital analytics strategy and support to derive insights, recommendations, and actions to drive the Digital business forward.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to: 

  • Lead digital analysis strategy for site merchandising, services, and omni programs to guide data driven decision making
  • Leverage data to shape business strategies, prioritize initiatives and make recommendations to constantly improve experience and optimize business
  • Uncover pressing business needs requiring analytical insight and scopes/conducts analysis to answer critical questions; Translates analysis into actionable results
  • Manage team of Analysts focusing on assigned categories/businesses; Guide team on analysis approach, scoping, prioritization, modeling, etc.
  • Bring together multiple data sources (e.g., customer, sales, cost, market share) to provide holistic picture of performance; Guide team on how to connect these data points
  • Analyze relationships between web analytics data and sales data to connect KPIs, determine root causes and guide future actions
  • Measure effectiveness of digital promotions and partners with site merchandising to plan promotions based on effectiveness and balancing sales and margin targets
  • Drive analysis to optimize the P&L and guide analysis to deliver on sales and profit targets
  • Guide LRP development with Finance based on strategic objectives and business targets
  • Work with Finance to build monthly omni sales and traffic plans to align with strategic objectives; Incorporate trends and planned initiatives into monthly forecasting process
  • Measure business results vs. forecast and incorporate into future forecast iterations
  • Communicate digital insights and customer behaviors to key stakeholders
  • Build and execute strategy around digital data story-telling and reporting to drive insight and action
  • Partner with Site Merchandising, Services, Marketing, MP&A and other cross-functional partners to prioritize key strategies needed to deliver sales, drive performance and increase customer satisfaction
  • Champion an iterative, test and learn mindset across the team
  • Demonstrate strong decision-making skills with an ability to translate findings from analysis into business strategies
  • Manage all aspects of performance and development of direct reports to encourage professional growth

  • Leadership background in digital/omni-channel analytics or finance
  • Knowledge of the digital customer funnel and ability to implement efforts to optimize conversion across the funnel to drive business results
  • Ability to understand and synthesize quantitative and qualitative data to make decisions and recommend viable solutions
  • Ability to tell stories with data
  • Collaborative working style
  • Excellent time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills
  • High degree of internet savvy, with a curiosity and enthusiasm for digital trends
  • Excellent problem solving skills – able to identify, analyze and propose solutions to various technical and business issues
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, “self-starter” environment serving as a catalyst for change and managing multiple work streams simultaneously
  • The ability to understand and explain complex issues, but also clearly identify and communicate the situation at a high level
  • Exhibit professional initiative and entrepreneurial drive
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft office applications, including intermediate capabilities with Excel and Word 

                                               

Education and/or Experience

    • Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, Analytics, Merchandising or equivalent work experience
    • 5+ years working in Digital Commerce
    • 2+ years managing direct reports
    • Strong communication and leadership skills
    • Strong analytical and organizational skills

 

Technical Skills

    • Familiarity with enterprise data warehouses and digital data sources (e.g., Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics)
