About the Team

The Digital team focuses on delivering a superior customer experience on petsmart.com and our mobile app. The team also guides revenue and profit growth for the digital business. Digital team associates focus on delivering initiatives that help our pet parents find and discover products, bring enterprise priorities to life digitally, design new user experiences, build new features and capabilities, and manage key omni-channel programs. We work to showcase our brand digitally through the lens of expertise and love and to provide a personalized experience for our consumers. The team takes a data-driven approach and leverages quantitative and qualitative insights to optimize the experience and make business decisions.

About the Job


Senior Digital Category Analyst is responsible for conducting analysis using eCommerce sales, digital customer engagement data, market share, etc. and producing actionable recommendations based on analysis.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:


  • Scopes and performs analysis on sales trends by category, customer purchasing behavior, promotion effectiveness
  • Partners closely with Site Merchandising and Omni Program teams to identify, scope and conduct analysis to answer key business questions
  • Pro-actively identifies key sales drivers and uncovers root cause of sales performance for assigned category
  • Makes recommendations for business actions based on analysis conducted
  • Scopes and analyzes digital KPIs to identify performance trends and opportunities, execute strategies to drive sales
  • Makes linkages across several KPIs (e.g., sales, traffic, customer) to provide holistic analysis of the assigned category
  • Drives the development of daily and weekly sales forecasts based on trends and initiatives; Measures performance vs. forecast
  • Ensures that tactics and plans meet financial targets and customer expectations
  • Scopes and performs analysis to support business case development of key strategies
  • Analyzes customer acquisition and retention behavior and uses analysis to inform sales plans and actions
  • Socializes data across the organization to make recommendations that help enhance the omni experience and drive business results
  • Designs and creates daily, weekly, monthly sales reporting to summarize business performance and socialize throughout the organization
  • Provides subject matter expertise on key digital initiatives, programs, and testing

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills
  • High degree of internet savvy, with a curiosity and enthusiasm for digital trends
  • Excellent problem solving skills – able to identify, analyze and propose solutions to various technical and business issues
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, “self-starter” environment serving as a catalyst for change and managing multiple work streams simultaneously
  • Exhibit professional initiative and entrepreneurial drive                                              


Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Merchandising, Marketing, Finance, Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • 4 years of experience in Digital
  • 4 years of experience utilizing online analytics to optimize sales and customer experience


Technical Skills

  • Familiarity with enterprise data warehouses and digital data sources (e.g., Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics)
