About the Job

The Lead Program Manager, Change Management is responsible for using best practices to deliver change management plans, processes, and internal change consulting on key enterprise initiatives. Leading the change program, means you understand how enterprise initiatives impact the associate experience and understand the connection between meaningful change, a positive associate experience and successful delivery of enterprise initiatives. The ideal candidate for this role has proven experience in change management practices, comfortable facilitating development and change sessions for any level in the organization and brings a strong perspective in culture design.   


Key job responsibilities

  • Performing qualitative and quantitative assessments of change success and change adoption and developing strategies to address client challenges, risks, or gaps.
  • Applying behavioral tools to assess the impact of change on organizations, using assessments of organizational culture, performance, and readiness for change.
  • Using human centered design methods to assess to cultural landscape of an organization and its readiness to support and adapt to change.
  • Growing meaningful relationships and trusted partnerships.
  • Act as a coach for senior leaders and executives in helping them fulfill the role of sponsor for the change.
  • Defining and measuring success metrics and monitoring change progress.
  • Identifying and managing anticipated resistance to change.
  • Designing materials for client workshops and sessions.
  • Facilitating meetings and workshops.

Change Management Program and Execution

  • Manage existing OCM Framework, including methodologies, tools, and templates, to deliver or enable customers to deliver change plans
  • Develop and implement tools to assess change readiness and measure change outcomes
  • Creates a culture of change agility by up skilling and reskilling leaders, HR Business partners and key project managers in PetSmart’s change management practices
  • Partners closely with the Leadership Program Manager, to create and develop leadership content that supports an agile and resilient culture
  • Collaborates with the EPMO, key external stakeholders, project managers, and HR Business partners to integrate various change initiatives to create an overarching change plan
  • Delivers other leadership development content as needed to support and build leadership capability
  • As needed, supports additional organizational development, talent management and leadership projects.


Change Management Consultant 

  • Act as a change management consultant for large-scale enterprise projects using PetSmart’s Change Management methodologies, tools, and templates.
  • Functions as part of the Project Leadership Team for assigned initiatives.
  • Conducts stakeholder readiness assessments, evaluates results, identifies resistance and performance gaps and works to develop and implement interventions.
  • Supports other team members as they develop and execute communication and training plans.
  • Coordinates Change efforts within projects – coordinating team members from the EPMO, HR, Internal Communications and Development teams.
  • Uses analytics, surveys, statistics, metrics, and trends to evaluate the effectiveness of programs and sustain the momentum around change efforts.

 Change Management Capacity Management and Influencer 

  • Develop the change readiness practice using  human centered design methods to assess to cultural landscape of an organization and its readiness to support and adapt to change.
  • Act as a coach for senior leaders and executives in helping them fulfill the role of sponsor for the change.
  • Influences and gains advocacy from senior leaders to support change efforts, and is the trusted OCM partner for the enterprise
  • Ensures understanding and adoption of common methodology and standards related to change management, communication processes or process improvements


  • Track record of delivering value and high-quality outcomes to the business and achieving results through insightful recommendations.
  • Experience leading an “in house” change function
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Thorough organizational skills with ability to manage multiple, conflicting priorities.
  • Deep problem solving skills, proven ability with identifying and solving complex issues – high sense of urgency and judgement with decision making
  • Extensive experience with culture, employee experience and the human experience of change.
  • Extensive experience in implementing, leading, and coaching others in the definition of and value of change management.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, collaboration skills, and urgency.
  • Confidence with driving change solutions that break down established routines, and champions a new way of working to encourage adoption and resiliency across the enterprise
  • Have experience in managing end to end change process with responsibility for both change and communication across multiple large, complex organizations

Education and Certifications

  • 7+ years of change management professional experience.
  • Change management certification or designation is preferred.
