Johnson & Johnson is currently recruiting for a Software Developer, Commercial Technology and Global R&D Platforms, to join our fast-paced, innovative, and highly visible team building software for our Commercial and R&D businesses. This is an engineering contributor role, responsible for software development as a member of a team. The position will be located in Providence, RI.

The Software Developer works with other developers and testers to plan, build, and review software solutions to solve problems for our business partners. The work spans all of Johnson & Johnson’s business units, requiring strong written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical colleagues. The Commercial Technology & Global R&D Platforms organization is passionate about software engineering digital solutions, and product lifecycle management platforms for Johnson & Johnson Operating Companies. This role will engage as a Software Developer with technical colleagues such as testers and engineers, as well as scrum team members such as scrum masters and product owners. Hands-on development of solutions for patients, professionals, and healthcare providers is a critical aspect of this role. Successful Software Developers will follow compliance standards and guidance to ensure the safety and security of their work products.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree is preferred

Experience and Skills:

Required:

• Aim to learn and adapt to new challenges
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience in developing frontend and/or backend applications
• Experience in SQL, specifically relational database expertise such as MySQL and PostgreSQL
• Experience developing software unit tests
• Experience using Git for source control management
• Experience maintaining Unix/Linux environments via the command line

Preferred:

• Experience with modern programming languages, especially JavaScript and Python
• Experience with frontend technologies and frameworks such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ReactJS, and Web Components
• Experience with building and consuming RESTful APIs, especially with Node.js using Express
• Knowledge of software security concepts, especially the OWASP Top Ten
• Experience with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, and Jenkins
