Director, GBDM Strategic Planning and Execution
**ROLE SUMMARY**

The Director of Global Biometrics and Data Management (GBDM) Strategic Planning and Execution will be responsible for working with the GBDM Leadership Team and its senior leaders to support the development and implementation of GBDM long-term strategies. This highly experienced project and matrix leader will have direct autonomy and accountability with an expansive scope to oversee and execute the long-term strategies for all areas under the purview of GBDM. This includes the Center for Data Standards & Quality (CDSQ), Data Monitoring and Management (DMM), Statistical Programming and Analysis (SPA) and Statistics as well as the GBDM 5-Year Strategic Roadmap. This role will ensure all GBDM cross-functional deliverables are achieved on or ahead of schedule, within budget targets, and with quality that meets or exceeds business needs. A major component of this role is strategic leadership and championing of transformational breakthrough changes and liaising with internal and external stakeholders, management and governance bodies, as needed. This role will need to leverage prior experience in project and change management, problem-solving, and strategic roadmap development to provide insight on both internal and external signals that could impact business performance or strategic direction. This role will stay closely connected to key business challenges and opportunities, and ensure that there is alignment with strategic priorities, or make recommendations to priorities when necessary.

**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**

This role is responsible for supporting GBDM's long-term operational excellence, performing all project planning activities in support of the strategic roadmap and supporting any special projects identified as critical to the overall success of the organization. To effectively execute the primary responsibilities, the Director of GBDM Strategic Planning and Execution must possess advanced knowledge of project management and/or management consulting principles, concepts, and theories.

+ Lead GBDM Roadmap Project Management Office (PMO) to manage the GBDM Strategic Roadmap and achieve key milestones according to the endorsed strategy and project plan.

+ Lead a highly experienced cross-functional team in the preparation, implementation, maintenance, communication, and management of GBDM long-term strategic planning. Support key strategic imperatives to achieve long term goals.

+ Contribute tothe completion of annual strategic and operating plans, as well as a semi-annual review of GBDM Roadmap Strategy - short/mid/long term projects (5+ years).

+ Contribute to the continuous improvement of project plans, plan generation, plan utilization, report creation/development processes, and/or systems/process integration.

+ Proactively identify and manage emerging changes and opportunities, raise operational and program issues and risks, facilitate development of team recommendations and action options, and ensure appropriate escalation to senior leadership

+ Proactively assess external competitive landscape through benchmarking and identify transformational breakthrough changes to lead the pharma industry in data sciences.

+ Help set and deliver upon actionable semester goals related to activities of the roadmap including refinement of cross-functional project level goals, metrics, outcomes and breakthrough potential to ensure alignment and contribution towards overall strategy. Routinely monitor progress against these goals.

+ Partner with key team members (e.g., GBDM Leadership Team, GBDM Senior Leaders, GBDM Roadmap Project Management Office (PMO), etc.) to manage the GBDM long-term strategy and achieve key milestones according to the endorsed strategy and project plan.

+ Accountable for leading strategy meetings including meeting scheduling, agenda, records, materials, facilitation and communications

+ Communicate team roles/responsibilities; help new team members get up to speed on the project and ensure all team members have access to project information necessary to be successful.

+ Partner and routinely collaborate with GBDM Leadership Team and cross-functional GPD line leadership.

+ Partner with communications lead to develop and manage the communication plan for all strategy projects, including stakeholder management plan. Ensure effective, accurate, and timely communication to meet the needs of the asset team and stakeholders.

+ Recommend and implement new internal processes, approaches or tools to manage the strategic program and/or team.

+ Actively participate in the investment and strategy decisions related to the technology decisions for GPD/WRDM statistics, programming, and data management systems.

+ Lead several workstreams and provide day-to-day oversight of roadmap project teams and colleagueswithvarying levels of experience.

+ Work with GBDM Leadership on enhancing the culture and upskilling People skills, both at the line function level and the overall GBDM level, to ensure there is a well-defined, actionable plan in place with clearly defined outcome metrics

+ Work with GBDM leadership to identify optimal internal/external training option for leadership development and ensure successful delivery/execution of the training program

+ Create an engaging and productive work environment where team members are encouraged to collaborate and excel.

+ Ensure all approved strategic projects have approved budget/costs; works directly with finance and business operations to monitor and manage program activities against the approved budget.

+ Responsible for coordinating, monitoring and reporting for all long-term strategic projects.

+ Research and assess external environment (non-pharma) to recommend new approaches for sustaining and enhancing the culture and technologies in GBDM, ensuring alignment with GPD overall strategy

+ Provide perspective on the potential impact of external market signals and identify market trends.

+ Develop external relationships that provide perspective of the diverse eco-system outside of Pfizer as it relates to the support and growth of GBDM.

+ Appropriately assess opportunities and guide strategic direction for the future of GBDM.

**BASIC QUALIFICATIONS**

+ 10+ years of relevant biopharmaceutical experience required, including experience working on strategic initiatives, project planning and/or project management..

+ 5+ years of biopharmaceutical and/or management consulting experience

+ BA/BS required. Life sciences degree helpful.

+ Advanced degree desirable in a discipline relating to drug development or business.

+ Prior experience in developing a strategic roadmap or holding similar positions highly desirable.

+ Professional PM Certification (Project Management Professional [PMP] or equivalent) desirable.

+ Knowledge of the fundamentals of Project Management and its application to drug development. Sound understanding of drug development process required.

+ Ability to anticipate situations and problems and take initiative & appropriate action

+ Proven ability to define and lead projects, track and execute with quality and timeliness on complex programs of work.

+ Demonstrated skills and success in relationship building, negotiation and influencing.

+ Experience in managing cross-functional team dynamics

+ Preparation of reliable, high quality presentations, talking points, internal communications and correspondence to effectively conveys key messages to intended audiences.

+ Proven ability to succeed in a fast-paced, challenging and complex matrix team environment. Track record of performance on cross-functional teams and results through effective implementation of project management methodology, tools, and techniques.

+ Demonstrated project management and leadership, managing workstreams and small teams of cross-functional colleagues with varying backgrounds and skillsets.

+ Understands and has demonstrated ability to manage a budget and has a history of staying on or under budget.

+ Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization and lead with indirect authority.

+ Experience with stakeholder management and demonstrated ability to influence key stakeholders without direct authority.

+ Demonstrated strong strategic thinking skills, as evidenced by the ability to tee up the right questions, identify alternative scenarios, articulate resulting implications, and develop recommendations for decision-making or action.

+ Strong communication, interpersonal skills, meeting facilitation and presentation skills. Ability to represent and communicate clearly to GPD and GBDM Leadership Teams as well as GBDM colleagues.

+ Ability to lead cross-functional teams, identify, resolve & escalate issues.

+ Ability to influence and collaborate with peers, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

+ Displays flexibility, targeted problem-solving skills, and resourcefulness to drive path forward in ambiguous and constrained circumstances.
