Job Description

As a member of the Bioinformatics Laboratory Developed Test (LDT) Assay Development team, you will work closely with biologists across multiple development projects, supporting the development and deployment of our novel NGS assay. You will devise analytics to examine our experimental data, characterize assay attributes and finally improve the capability of our assay and bioinformatics pipelines. You will explore the unprecedented compendium of clinical data collected within Guardant Health, and collaborate with multiple function units, including the Software, Operations, Business Development and Medical Affairs.

Responsibilities

  • Design and prototype computational methods to generate insights from experimental data for improving assays and bioinformatics pipelines
  • Formulate and conduct feasibility analysis to guide our new products, including statistical modeling or in-silico simulations drawing from a rich database of historical test results
  • Work in conjunction with assay development scientists to plan experiments in novel assay development, troubleshooting, and sustaining support of existing products
  • Precisely communicate analysis results to stakeholders across computational, experimental and business teams and proactively advocate for solutions based on the data insight

Qualifications

  • PhD in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related quantitative fields
  • Strong knowledge of statistics and computational biology algorithms for genomic analysis (including statistical methods employed in analytical validation) and cancer genomics (general multivariate statistical inference)
  • Demonstrated experience in developing analytical methods for experimental genomics data under the context of product development
  • Proficiency with a high-level scripting language (e.g. Python, R)
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to foster a highly collaborative environment, working with both experimental and computational scientists
  • Familiar with regulated development environments

Advantage if you have

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in Pharmaceutical or Biotech industry
  • Knowledge of cancer biology
  • Understanding of library preparation methods used to generate NGS data, including whole-genome and methylation sequencing, targeted sequencing, and RNA-seq

Additional Information

Hybrid Work Model: At Guardant Health, we have defined days for in-person/onsite collaboration and work-from-home days for individual-focused time.
