The Customer Experience team focuses across 4 departments including, Marketing, Creative, Communications, and our Loyalty & CRM team. Everyone brings their own point of view to create a unique experience for the pets and pet parents.

About the Job


The Internal Communications Manager of Meetings & Events will be a critical part of a growing team – responsible for bringing to life PetSmart's vast stories to internal audiences through exceptional meetings and events that inform, motivate, and inspire attendees, while building on PetSmart’s strategic initiatives and culture. This includes managing large-scale experiential, virtual and in-person corporate events from conceptualization through to completion, as well as developing content, assisting with multimedia storytelling, and identifying new and engaging ways to bring PetSmart's story to life.


We’re looking for a relationship builder who is proficient at storytelling, an expert in written and visual communications, and experienced in event planning and project management. This high-profile role necessitates high levels of collaboration and communication across multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams, with a great deal of exposure to senior leaders across the organization.



  • Serve as the key driver in bringing engaging content and PetSmart stories to life in high-profile company events and meetings including: Field Leadership Meeting, Circle of Excellence, Services Leadership Meeting, Vendor and Supply Chain Summits, Town Halls, Monthly Business Update Meetings, Bimonthly Campus Mingles, Executive Team Lunch and Learns, Be the Difference, PetSmart’s Family Event and Holiday Lunch.
  • In partnership with the Senior Manager, work closely with the senior leaders and internal stakeholders across the company to identify meeting and event opportunities, strategic focuses, and key timing.
  • Conduct research to identify site locations, availability, capacity, initial pricing, vendor partners, and potential obstacles to develop event recommendations.
  • Develop and deliver upon detailed budgets for each event based on goals.
  • Develop and deliver upon detailed event task lists based on established key milestones and timing.
  • Develop event communications both physical and digital in partnership with the appropriate business partners. This includes event invitations, speaker talking points, video scripts, PowerPoint presentations and intranet stories.
  • Lead the planning and sourcing for all event related materials (giveaways, décor, signage, awards, etc.) to ensure key stakeholders’ vision is achieved.
  • Manage the event agenda to accurately plan on-site setup, rehearsals, meals, breaks, rooming blocks, and meeting space transitions.
  • Lead the event staff and volunteers throughout the planning process and event execution.
  • Manage all onsite vendors and agenda to ensure a successful event.
  • Manage the campus calendars process to accurately communicate all events to PHO associates.
  • Create post-event communications, including event recaps, video replays, photos, etc. to highlight on various internal communication channels and drive further awareness across the organization.
  • Capture real-time and post-event feedback to identify areas for future improvements.


Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
  • 6+ years relevant work experience in corporate communications, storytelling, or event planning-focused roles.
  • Communicate effectively, persuasively, and tactfully in both verbal and written forms.
  • Conduct meetings, create presentations, and facilitate communications in a clear, concise, and positive manner.
  • Plan, direct, and prioritize multiple projects and work objectives to ensure successful implementation.
  • Ability to develop effective relationships.
  • Experience working with and influencing leaders.
  • Resourceful and enthusiastic. Able to work well within a team and under pressure with short timelines.
  • Excellent time management, project management and organization skills.
  • Willingness to take direction and collaborate to accomplish team's vision.
  • Ability to work well in a high energy, fast paced environment.
  • Proven work ethic, results-oriented, and proactive.
  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Excels independently and in a team setting.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft office programs (Teams, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Experience in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign a plus.
