Senior Rail Operations Specialist - WFR Field Inspector
About this role: Wells Fargo is seeking a Field Inspector - Senior Rail Operations Specialist. In this role, you will:
- Conduct physical inspections of rail cars to determine condition, suitability for service, and mechanical issues or deficiencies.
- Identify and allocate rail car maintenance requirements between responsible parties according to lease and other contractual obligations.
- Prepare detailed reports and analyses of inspection results.
- Lead resolution of customer issues regarding the functioning of rail cars in their service.
- Inspect and audit contract shops to ensure adherence to quality standards, regulatory requirements, and Wells Fargo Rail (WFR) estimating/invoicing/administrative procedures.
- Develop vendor and customer relationships based on the principles of responsiveness, ease of doing business, and integrity.
- Provide recommendations to WFR's business development and commercial teams regarding acquisition, remarketing and management activities.
- Evaluate contract shop internal processes and controls and work with vendors to recommend and implement process and quality improvements, and tooling enhancements.
- Participate in complex initiatives and deliverables within Rail Operations that impact the existing and new rail car and fleet assets.
- Contribute to large-scale planning to multi-functional deliverables, recommend enhancements and procedural changes to maximum operational efficiency, quality, compliance and tooling enhancements
- Review moderately complex business, and operational challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of variable factors
- Provide guidance and subject expertise to less experienced team with interpreting and understanding complex Association of American Railroads Interchange Rules and Recommended Practices and internal company policies and procedures
- Independently resolve moderately complex issues and lead team to meet functional area process deliverables
- Leverage solid understanding of the functions, policies, procedures and ensure activities are in compliance with AAR and FRA regulations and requirements and US DOT regulatory standards
- Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
Required Qualifications, US:
- 4+ years of Rail Operations experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications: - Rail car repair certification preferred
- Strong knowledge of rail operations industry
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and auditing skills
- Strong customer relations and resolution experience
- Excellent oral and written communication including an ability to clearly, concisely, and effectively interact with internal and external customers
Job Expectations:
- This role is 100% remote and requires 2-4 days of travel throughout the week
- Individuals must reside within the Northeast region (PA, OH, WV, NY) or be open to relocating
- Ability to travel over 50% by car (rare occasions by plane)
