About the Location

Hybrid Position:

This position may be considered Hybrid based on PetSmart’s FlexSmart policy and business needs. A Hybrid work arrangement is considered to be a blend of onsite and remote work activity. Associates with a Hybrid work arrangement have a work space at Phoenix Home Office and can be required to come onsite between 1-5 days a week as determined by leadership and based on business needs.

 


About the Job

Role Overview: The Senior Manager of Asset Protection & Safety Strategy and Analytics plays a pivotal role within our enterprise Loss Prevention and Safety team at PetSmart. Reporting directly to the Director of Loss Prevention and Safety Operations and Compliance, this position oversees project management, analytics, and test and measures for the LP & Safety department and serves our team and partners across stores, distribution centers and our offices. The Sr. Mgr. Asset Protection and Safety Strategy and Analytics collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver opportunities to drive continuous improvement, enhance business results, ensure effective project delivery and accurate, timely and actionable reporting across a complex suite of data sources and functions within the department.

Responsibilities:

  1. PMO Leadership:
    • Develop and implement comprehensive PMO plans and processes for overseeing, coordinating, and reporting on projects related to workplace health and safety, pet health and safety, investigations, asset protection and all facets of inventory loss and total retail financial loss to mitigate injuries, fraud and loss for the company.
    • Manage internal project management function, including requirements management, strategic initiative leadership, measurement, user acceptance testing, communications, and technical writing.
    • Collaborate with leadership across the business to drive process improvements across various functions.
    • Facilitate strategic planning for the LP & Safety department aligned with the PMO framework.
    • Provide enterprise updates on project portfolio performance and resource management.
  2. Analytics Leadership:
    • Work individually and with cross-functional teams and oversee direct report to analyze external and internal data sets related to loss prevention and safety trends.
    • Translate complex technical information requiring forensic analysis into actionable insights to support decision-making and resource allocation.
    • Ensure delivery of visually compelling analysis outputs, executive summaries and comprehensive department updates to stakeholders.
    • Lead metric planning, long-range planning, and forecasting efforts for total retail financial loss, safety, investigations, and security metrics.
    • Manage strategic initiatives related to analytics.
    • Lead test and measures functionality for the department supporting internal and partner strategic initiatives with insights and a suite of reporting
  3. Alignment Leadership and Oversight:
    • Collaborate with finance, operations, merchandising and other relevant teams to align priorities, goals and strategies.
    • Ensure data-driven decision-making by providing accurate and timely insights.
    • Manage 1 direct report and cross-functional staff indirectly.
    • Engage with business leaders and central functions to align project management processes, implementation and outcomes.
    • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • 7 years of relevant education and experience (Business, Engineering, Education, Finance, Operations or Business Administration)
  • Desired certifications: PMP, CSM, PMI, SPC, LPC
  • Skills: Leadership, project management disciplines, use of advanced analytics programs (e.g. Excel, Alteryx, Power BI, SalesForce, Azure, SQL, Agile tools), financial modeling/forecasting, forensic analysis reporting, familiarity with retail and warehousing operations, PMO and analytics technology, and asset protection and safety metrics.
  • Competencies: Strategic thinking, drive/energy, financial acumen, influence, relationship building, presentation skills, change agility, organizing and planning, written communications, problem solving and decision making.
