I first met Kendrick Meek when he was a Florida State Trooper who drove me from the airport during my 1992 campaign, and I've been a fan ever since. He's exactly who Florida needs in the Senate to put things back on track and we have just seven months to propel him to a victory.
Kendrick has the energy, the ideas and the ability to make the changes we need. He's done so much in Tallahassee and in Washington to expand opportunity. His campaign for smaller classes in Florida's schools was based on an idea from my administration.
We need him working with President Obama in the Senate on the toughest issues: from creating good jobs to providing more affordable health care to combating global warming.
Republican infighting has given him an opportunity to win that is better than ever, but fundraising numbers from this first quarter will show the pundits whether Kendrick can take advantage of it.
