Today, The Black Scholars Index celebrates Nell Irvin Painter, an author and historian currently studying to be an artist. She recently released "The History of White People," a book covered throughout today's news. Read the story and watch a few clips of this amazing Black woman and scholar!

Thank you for your post. I am familiar with Dr. Painter and her work because of her brilliant iography of the abolitionist and fugitive slave Soujourner Truth.

She is a scholar of the highest order!!! Her new book looks extremely interesting.
I posted a review of her book last week and I expect to post more on her.
