Miami Gardens, Fla. - Today, Kendrick Meek renewed his fight to provide Florida workers with the skills and training needed to transform Florida's economy and create long-lasting economic growth.
"My fight is to spur sustainable, long-term economic growth that will create job opportunities for Florida families. That means we must work hard right now to give Florida workers the skills and training they need to fuel an economic revival here in our state. By encouraging partnerships between Florida colleges and local businesses, promoting worker retraining programs and breaking down financial barriers to higher education, we can lay the groundwork for long-term economic growth. But, at each step, Floridians know it will require leaders who are willing to work hard to create jobs and opportunities for middle class Floridians, not politicians intent on scoring political points and imposing their own political philosophy. I will continue to work hard to build a 21st century economy that works for everyday Florida families," said Kendrick Meek, Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate.
Earlier this year, Kendrick toured University of Central Florida's Center for Emerging Media which partners with firms in the film, media, military, and bio-medical industries. More recently, he visited a training facility for clean energy jobs in St. Lucie County and hosted a roundtable with college students struggling to pay for their college education.
