MIAMI GARDENS, FLA. - Highlighting his record working on behalf of middle class Floridians, Kendrick Meek won the most recent Democratic Primary debate in the U.S. Senate election that aired tonight on Bay News 9 in Tampa-St. Pete and Central Florida News 13 in Orlando. The debate was held Sunday afternoon at Bay News 9 in Tampa.
"This election is about choosing the best person to serve the state of Florida," said Kendrick. "Floridians need new, good paying jobs with benefits that are not going to get shipped overseas when some businessman decides that they can make more money elsewhere. Floridians need a U.S. Senator that will stand up for them. I have fought for Democratic principles my entire career, opposed privatizing Social Security, protected a woman's right to chose, and spearheaded a petition to reduce class sizes when my own daughter found it difficult to learn in over packed classrooms. I am running to get results for the people of Florida."
Winning the debate builds on the momentum Kendrick is building in Florida. Last weekend the St. Petersburg Times endorsed Kendrick "based on his clear voting record and his well documented commitment to the state." Wednesday, Kendrick will start the 10-day 'Real Dem Express' bus tour that will bring his message to all corners of Florida (http://www.kendrickmeek.com/pages/bus_tour_map/).
