MIAMI GARDENS, FLA. -- Today, Jeff Greene was once again caught lying about his now infamous trips to Cuba. In an explosive segment, WPLG Local 10 News reports that while Greene had originally claimed he was in Cuba on a humanitarian trip to aid the Jewish community in Cuba. A yacht hand verified that Greene did no humanitarian work at all. In fact, they report Greene spent 3 to 4 days in Cuba partying on his yacht with his girlfriend and another couple and shopping for Cuban goods including cigars. You can watch the entire segment here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBqhYq-SrJw).
"Jeff Greene's lies know no bounds. It is astounding that Jeff Greene would make light of the plight of Cubans and the Jewish community in Cuba who are living under a repressive regime. This episode goes to the very nature of Greene's character and shows his complete disregard for the public trust. All on his own, Jeff Greene has once again proven that he has no business representing our state in any capacity." said the Kendrick Meek campaign in a statement.
This weekend, the St. Petersburg Times reported that according to two former crewmen on Jeff Greene's yacht, Greene went on a debaucherous party cruise to Cuba (http://www.tampabay.com/news/politics/elections/jeff-greenes-path-to-senate-campaign-shows-he-is-uncompromising-sometimes/1112417). "Mr. Greene's yacht is known to be a party yacht. When it went to Cuba, everybody talked about the vomit caked all over the sides from all the partying going on," one deck hand told the Times.
In the Bay News 9 debate that aired yesterday, Greene said he wasn't on the boat during that trip and claimed, when pressed, that "I went to Cuba years ago on a Jewish mission to Cuba." Cuba is one of four countries listed on the State Department's State Sponsors of Terrorism list (http://www.state.gov/s/ct/c14151.htm). It is currently illegal to break the embargo, punishable by up to 10 years in prison. Cuban cigars fall into that category.
