JACKSONVILLE, FLA. -- The Kendrick Meek campaign announced today that former President Bill Clinton will campaign for Kendrick Meek at rallies in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties on Monday, August 16, 2010.
"I am honored to have President Clinton travel to Florida in support of my campaign. Together, we'll show Floridians that there is only one real Democrat in this race and only one candidate who knows what it means to fight for middle-class families," said Kendrick Meek, Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate.

President Clinton and Kendrick have a long relationship dating back to 1991 when Kendrick was a state trooper and Kendrick was assigned to pick up then Governor Clinton at the airport in Tallahassee. In 2008, the two traveled across the country campaigning and were brought together again this year to help rebuild Haiti.
President Clinton, who served from 1993 to 2001, was the first Democratic president to be awarded a second term in six decades. Under his leadership, the United States enjoyed the strongest economy in a generation and the longest economic expansion in U.S. history. His administration resulted in moving the nation from record deficits to record surpluses; the creation of over 22 million jobs; low levels of unemployment, poverty and crime; and the highest homeownership and college enrollment rates in history.
President Clinton was one of the first national figures to endorse Kendrick. He has supported Kendrick's campaign for U.S. Senate since early 2009 and has participated in five events in support of his campaign.
Kendrick is in Jacksonville today on the second day of his Real Dem Express bus tour across the state. Yesterday, Kendrick kicked off the tour at a rally in Orlando and held events in Seminole County and Daytona.
