BREAKING: GOVERNOR CRIST DIAGNOSED WITH POLITICAL AMNESIA (889 hits)

MIAMI GARDENS, FLA. -- Governor Crist told Central Florida News 13 that he would have voted for President Obama's health care reform bill.

"I would have voted for it but I think it could be done better," Governor Crist told Central Florida News 13.

Uh... no.

It should be remembered at the time of the final vote on health care reform, the Governor sent a letter to Kendrick urging him to vote against the bill. The governor claimed, "President Obama, Majority Leader Reid, and Speaker Pelosi are jamming [health care reform] through Congress."

After the vote, Governor Crist sent out a statement blasting the health care reform bill as an "affront to the American people" and claimed the bill was a "government takeover."

"The diagnosis is in: Governor Crist has a pre-existing condition -- political amnesia. From day to day, hour to hour, his grasp on the truth has escaped him. Health care reform is a landmark legislative victory for Floridians that has already helped thousands of Florida families and seniors who are enjoying prescription drug benefits. Governor Crist isn't just playing politics with this critical issue which impacts everyday people -- he is flat-out distorting history that's not even months old," said Adam Sharon, communications director for Kendrick Meek.

On March 23, Governor Crist even sent out a statement supporting Attorney Genereal Bill McCollum's lawsuit to block health care reform and called it "unconstitutional, a direct attack on our essential personal liberties."

Obviously, the governor is having a crisis of memory.

We've pasted each of the governor's releases below to remind the governor that he, in fact, was an outspoken opponent of the health care reform bill.

Gov. Crist Writes Letter To Rep. Meek Urging Him To Vote "No" On The Health Care Bill

TALLAHASSEE - The Charlie Crist for U.S. Senate campaign today released the below letter sent from Gov. Crist urging Rep. Meek to stand up against President Obama's political threats and vote "no" on the current health care bill before Congress.

The text of the letter is below and attached.

March 17, 2010

The Honorable Kendrick Meek
Representative Of The 17th Congressional District Of Florida
1039 Longworth House Office Building
Washington, DC 20515

Dear Representative Meek:

Media reports yesterday stated that President Obama has threatened not to campaign and raise money for Democrats who vote "no" on the health care legislation that is currently before Congress. The President's threat to snub Democrats who vote against this bill clearly demonstrates his priority of scoring political points rather than working to pass meaningful legislation.

Instead of succumbing to the bullying and strong-arm tactics of your Party's leader, I urge you to ignore these threats and do what is in the best interest of the people of Florida by voting "no" on this bill.

Floridians deserve quality health care with increased access and lower costs. What Floridians don't need is the current legislation that increases taxes, raises premiums and cuts Medicare that President Obama, Majority Leader Reid, and Speaker Pelosi are jamming through Congress.

Again, put the people of Florida first - I urge you to vote "no" on the Democrat health care bill.

Sincerely,

Charlie Crist

Governor Crist Statement On The House Health Care Vote

TALLAHASSEE - The Charlie Crist for U.S. Senate campaign today released the below statement from Gov. Crist following the House passage of the Senate government run health care bill:

"It is disappointing to see that President Obama and Democrat leadership convinced enough members of their Party, including Rep. Meek, to completely ignore the will of the American people, and pass their government run health care bill.

"This bill is comprised of secret backroom, sweetheart deals, includes a last minute Executive Order, and the passage of such a bill is a direct affront to the American people.

"Americans deserve better than this liberal, partisan legislation that amounts to a government take over of health care while raising rates, raising taxes, and significantly cutting Medicare."

Governor Crist Statement On AG McCollum's Plan To Legally Challenge Provisions Of The Health Care Bill

TALLAHASEE - The Charlie Crist for U.S. Senate campaign today released the following statement from Gov. Crist in support of Attorney General Bill McCollum's plan to legally challenge provisions of the government run health care bill that President Obama signed into law today:

"The Democrats refused to pass meaningful, bipartisan health care legislation with real solutions, and instead passed a bill that includes an extensive government overreach and intrusion into our citizens' personal freedoms.

"That is why I fully support Attorney General Bill McCollum's efforts to challenge the Constitutionality of a provision in the bill that mandates all Americans to purchase health insurance or face a fine.

"Any individual mandate of this kind from the federal government is unconstitutional, a direct attack on our essential personal liberties, and vastly increases the power of Washington bureaucrats that far exceeds the proper role of government.

"As I've stated before, once in the U.S. Senate, I will fight to repeal this government takeover of health care."
