Shreveport/Bossier City Louisiana (July 15, 2010) – The Grambling University Athletic Foundation (GUAF) announces, the annual Eddie G. Memorial Golf Classic will take place at The Golf Club at StoneBridge.
The GUAF will put on the Eddie G. Memorial Golf Classic to support the Eddie G. Robinson Scholarship Fund and athletics at Grambling State University. The golf outing is dedicated to the legacy of Hall of Fame Football coach Eddie G. Robinson. The event will include a Welcome Breakfast at The Golf Club at StoneBridge, Friday morning 7:00am-8:00am. Breakfast will be followed by an eighteen-hole shotgun start golf tournament. The afternoon will conclude with a reception and awards party for the day’s tournament, lunch provided by OUTBACK.
Eddie G. Robinson spent fifty-six years as the head coach at historically black Grambling State University from 1941 through 1997. During his tenure, Robinson established himself as the winningest coach in Division I-AA college football history, with 408 wins. During his coaching career, Robinson compiled 45 winning seasons, including winning or sharing 17 Southwestern Athletic Conference Championships and nine black college football National Championships.
