
Juan Scott (Central State) was named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Male Track Athlete of the Week along with teammate Darin Gooch who was tabbed the Male Field Athlete of the Week, announced on Friday by the league office.
Scott, a freshman from Dayton, Ohio ran a personal best time of 14.00 to win the 110-meter hurdles at the All-Ohio Championships. On his way to victory, Scott edged Division I competition from the University of Cincinnati, Ohio State University and Miami (Ohio) University. His time in the 110-meter hurdles is the fastest time of any SIAC student-athlete this season and ranks as the fourth fastest in NCAA Division II. The Marauders finished fourth overall out of 13 teams.
Gooch posted the best mark of any Division II competitor in the long jump with a leap of 22 feet, 11 inches to become a Division II All-Ohio Champion. He also won the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.70, beating runners from the University of Cincinnati, Miami (Ohio) University and Ohio State University.
