Texas Southern University (TSU) will honor more than 1,200 candidates for graduation during Spring Commencement exercises on May 12 in TSU’s H&PE Arena. TSU will hold two ceremonies – one at 8:00 a.m. and the second at 12:30 p.m. – for the first time in University history. Both exercises will be livestreamed on
www.tsu.edu. Roland S. Martin, award-winning journalist and managing editor of TV One, will deliver the Commencement address at both ceremonies.
Omoikhefe Chinasa Eboreime, valedictorian, will graduate Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the College of Science, Engineering and Technology. Tuyen Thanh Nguyen, salutatorian, will graduate Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Science Management from the College of Science, Engineering and Technology. Ieshia Champs, a single mother of five children who received national attention for her academic journey, will graduate Summa Cum Laude from TSU’s Thurgood Marshall School of Law. Doris Blake, 72, the oldest candidate for graduation in the Jesse H. Jones School of Business, will receive a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
Ceremony One will include candidates from graduate and professional programs, Thurgood Marshall School of Law, Barbara Jordan-Mickey Leland School of Public Affairs, College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and the College of Education. Ceremony Two will include candidates from the College of Science, Engineering and Technology, College of Liberal Arts and Behavioral Sciences, Jesse H. Jones School of Business and the School of Communication.
