As college students, it seems as though we are constantly dealing with stress, sickness and a lack of sleep. Essential oils have become a popular, therapeutic resource used not only for their aroma and sweet scents, but also as a remedy for a number of health issues. Instead of using traditional medicinal methods, you can substitute eucalyptus oil as a therapeutic remedy to clear your congestion and sinus cavities.

Lavender Oil

Do you have trouble falling or staying asleep? If so, you may want to try using lavender oil before bed as essential oil shop The Aroma Foundry states that lavender can “decrease insomnia, reduce anxiety and induce relaxation.” If you want to boost your immune system, The Aroma Foundry also suggests using lavender oil because its chemical makeup contains many antiseptic and antibacterial properties.

Peppermint Oil

Whether you suffer from extreme migraines or the occasional headache, applying peppermint oil to your temples is an effective way to alleviate the pain. Additionally, the Global Healing Center states that you can ingest peppermint oil to relieve a stomach ache and improve the digestion process since it works to “calm the smooth muscle of the stomach and improve the digestive flow” within your stomach.

Jasmine Oil

If you need an instant mood booster, try applying drops of jasmine oil to your body. The Global Healing Center reports that the antioxidants in jasmine oil “increases alertness, breathing rate, and vigor” to act as an antidepressant. The stimulation causes your body to react by increasing your sense of well-being and enhancing your overall mood.

Rosemary Oil

Rosemary oil is similar to jasmine oil and can be applied for the same benefits. Well and Good states that rosemary oil “reduces the cortisol hormone in your body,” which is the main hormone that arises in times of extreme stress. So, if class, homework or an extracurricular activity is really stressing you out, try using rosemary oil to help reduce your cortisol levels.
