Kendrick Meek Criticizes Court Decision to Block Offshore Drilling Moratorium
MIAMI GARDENS, FLA.- Kendrick Meek released the following statement criticizing today's court decision to block the offshore drilling moratorium:
"Today's ruling by a Louisiana judge to block the six-month drilling moratorium is alarming and unwise. BP's massive oil spill more than justifies airing on the side of caution over false comfort. If this is not adequate reasoning, I don't know what is.
"At a time when Florida's beaches and economy are threatened by an environmental catastrophe that was not our fault, officials are mistakenly rushing to declare open-season again for offshore drilling. I will continue to fight against these ill-advised attempts to turn back the clock, and urge the Administration to appeal this decision."
