Kendrick Meek On Florida's July Unemployment Rate
MIAMI GARDENS, FLA - Kendrick Meek, Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, today issued the following statement in response to Florida's July unemployment rate of 11.5%.
"Today's news shows that we're still far from where we need to be to get Florida's economy back on its feet. Too many middle-class families are still struggling to make ends meet and a full recovery will take time and persistence, but I'm determined to do what it takes to create high-quality jobs for our state.
"My mission is the same as its been from day one: to get Floridians back to work. My opponents seek to drive our economy back into the ditch with the same failed Republican policies of the past: cutting taxes for the wealthiest 1% of Americans and corporate special interests and privatizing Social Security. I remain the only Real Democrat committed to creating jobs and siding with the middle class over the special interests."
