Theresa Stefanie Stumpf is a long way from her home in Stuttgart, Germany, but she is settling in quite nicely with the Stillman College family.
Stumpf is both a strong scholar and excellent athlete. She graduated high school with a 3.6 GPA having balanced her studies with playing tennis, volleyball, basketball and cheerleading. She has received a scholarship from Stillman for her tennis playing abilities.
Her love for sports often spills over into her down time. "I like to sleep," she said smiling, "and to go out with friends, and I like the outdoors- to go hiking, skiing or swimming, but wait, those are sports too," she laughed. She has decided to pursue a career in fitness and physical education and hopes to work in sports management.
When she was 16, she decided to pursue a full-ride scholarship offered to her to attend The Orme School of Arizona, a small boarding school, and subsequently graduated. "I loved the small size and how you knew everyone. There were only 120 students. I knew then that I wanted to attend a small college."
She is not sure if she will remain in the U.S. or return to Germany one day, but she does want to attend graduate school to obtain her master's and then perhaps a Ph.D. in sports management.
When asked what she likes best about Stillman, she said, "The people are so friendly and outgoing. I also love that it is like a small family."
