Introducing Walk In My Shoes Foundation, An Organization whose Sole Mission is to Provide Financial and Emotional Support to Cancer Patients Undergoing Cancer Treatment.
Walk In My Shoes Foundation was founded by Helen Castille Fusilier, a Breast Cancer Survivor, who, while being treated for cancer, experienced financial hardship. Her thought from that day was, "What can I do, to help cancer patients that would make their battles a little bit easier". Years later she would come up with the idea of Walk In My Shoes Foundation, a non profit organization through fiscal sponsorship, whose sole mission is to alleviate some of the financial burden on patients and provide emotional support to patients while they are undergoing cancer treatment. Helen’s thought was, I have been in those shoes; let me walk with you while you are going through. She knew first hand of the physical and mental stress related to being diagnosed with cancer, and how having to deal with the financial difficulties only made coping with the disease that much worse. Unlike other organizations, whose missions are to find the cure or fund research, Walk In My Shoes Foundation, supplies immediate financial and emotional support to patients, as funds permit.
Walk in My Shoes Foundation is currently accepting new and “gently worn” men, women and children shoes to resell. The shoes are sold at extremely inexpensive prices ranging from $5.00-$20.00.
In addition to the shoe sales, the foundation will also host other fund raising events to include Celebrity Shoe Auctions, 5k Walk/Run, Health Fairs, Banquets, etc.
Endorsements, donations and sponsorship are being sought.
Contributions to Walk In My Shoes Foundation, is tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, through Fiscal sponsorship, through Valerie Nero Ministries.
In spite of the recommended age for annual mammograms being 40 years old, now is the time for college students to get into the habit of performing Self Breast Exams. Keep in Mind ...
1. Most women who are diagnosed with Breast Cancer have NO history of the disease.
2. Men are susceptible to Breast Cancer
3. Early Detection at any age is Key
