I mentioned in a prior blog how my son lost his job at Comcast, in Philly after 5 years, meanwhile they are hiring all over the country as I have seen posted on here. After a 5 year stint he wanted to move into corporate management. He interviewed for the position met the CEO and expected to be hired
He was crushed when he did not get the position, lost his enthusiasm began skipping work with a doctor's note under FMLA, but he was dismissed. Unemployment picked up and provided a nice sum monthly: at 2k.
He is a young man, that I have spoken of occasionally. He was home schooled, and loves computers. We had three computers at home during his pre-teens, rest assured I was not happy coming home from work and going into the tech room and finding out he had taken the computer apart. I never even asked if it was working. I just sucked it in.
After all that is how kids learn. So today he is a master on hardware. Very well read, and when I talk to him , it really is a pleasure that any subject I can speak on he has some understanding and can connect.
No sooner than he placed his resume on Career Builder he began getting calls. He chose the companies that would provide the kind of intense intellectual stimulation he seeks. In every interview for the past two weeks (he's had five) he received call backs, and follow-ups. Today he landed what for him is his dream job; sales in RFID technology. (radio frequency identifier data) with a very generous base salary. In the pharmaceutical industry. (Yes we both are aware of RFID & it's use for control).
Meanwhile I am reading about no jobs, this economy, people are unemployed. Is there an issue maybe America needs to address, about the available workforce? Just asking. My son-in-law meanwhile just lost his job, he's been late 4 times and he is responsible for opening the premises. So what is the real issue here? Just asking.
