New College Success Web-series Releases on YouTube (1711 hits)

Teachers and leaders of colleges, high schools, and college-prep programs, who need an innovative, educational resource, for preparing students to succeed in college, have a new solution. Acing The Undergrad: The Show is a ten-episode web-series available for free on YouTube that teaches students how to navigate through college, using ten principles of college success. Based on the book, Acing The Undergrad: Your Personal Mentor, this web-series can be used in high school and college classrooms, as well as in individual homes to teach students the principles of college success. The first episode was released on YouTube July 12, 2015, and a new episode will be released each Sunday.

Acing The Undergrad: The Show follows Jared, a fictional college student, through his journey and transformation from starting as an average student to becoming a student of excellence. In the show, Jared is guided through college by his mentors, who teach him ten specific skills, or college fundamentals, that must be mastered in order to become an effective and productive college student. These ten principles are called the Acing The Undergrad Method. They address areas such as time management, classroom etiquette, and expanding your network. The end of each episode has questions for the viewers to help them apply the principles learned.

Acing The Undergrad: The Show is for anyone who has the goal of being a college graduate. Current college students and anyone hoping to attend college in the future can benefit from the principles taught throughout the web-series.

“Being a current college student, I understand the importance of college-prep for setting yourself up for success. This show teaches the skills and the mindset you need to be successful,” says Branden Cook, junior theatre major at Wake Forest University, and lead actor in Acing The Undergrad.

“When we created Acing The Undergrad, it was a priority to make sure we designed the web-series to be educational and entertaining,” says Emeka Anazia, co-owner of Acing The Undergrad and director of the web-series. “Since I personally know how much work goes into planning college success classes, we also include application questions for students at the end of each episode to spark group discussion and supplemental activity sheets on our website for the convenience of teachers and professors. Our previously released book, Acing The Undergrad: Your Personal Mentor, which delves deeper into the ten principles, can also be utilized as another classroom resource.”

Teachers and leaders of colleges, high schools, and college-prep programs (even the students themselves) looking for an educational, yet entertaining alternative to traditional methods of learning about college-success watch Acing The Undergrad. The web-series, when used along with the book, Acing The Undergrad: Your Personal Mentor, will provide students a distinct experience that taps into multiple learning styles.
