The Association of Black Psychologist will hold their 2016 mid-year meeting on Fisk University‘s campus. This year’s three-day conference, which begins on Friday, January 15, 2016, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, will focus on “Liberating Black Minds.” Association President, Dr. Kevin Washington, will deliver the opening session lecture on “The State of the Black Community.” President–Elect, Dr. Huberta Jackson-Lowman will address the “Matter of Black Women’s Lives,” and Dr. Cheryl Grills will speak on “Healing the Black Community in the Era of Mass Communication.”
Friday is a day of training and offers participants Continuing Education Credits with an opportunity not only to learn but to be a part of solutions that can be offered to Black communities. Saturday and Sunday, January 16-17, 2016, will focus on “A Call to Action to Heal and Restore Black Communities." The following issues will be explored in depth: Mental Health Interventions in Community Policing, Black Veterans Mental Health Service Delivery, and African Centered Rites of Passage Programs. This opportunity will allow participants to share their expertise, thoughts and ideas on how to address these issues in the Black community.
