The Smidt Heart Institute is home to a distinguished team of experts who are setting the bar for cardiovascular care in the United States.

Summary of Essential Duties:

• As a Clinical Nurse II you will perform a variety of direct patient care activities specific to the unit and needs of the peds patient population
• Perform patient assessments, triage patient concerns, provide clinical education to patients for pre-ops and other disease management education
• Manage anticoagulation, coordinate patient care, and maintain overall management of the ambulatory cardiac clinic with over 20 providers daily
• Obtain prior authorizations
• Triage phone calls from patients, pharmacies and other providers
• Identify the ability of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients to follow direction/instructions, as well as safety concerns in the age-related populations
• Institute additional measures to provide a safe environment

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program required
• BSN highly preferred

License/Certification:

• Current, unrestricted California RN license required

• BLS and PALS from the American Heart Association required or Red Cross

Experience:

• A minimum of 1 years of acute care nursing experience required
• At least 3 years of experience in a specialty area (procedure center, ambulatory clinic and/or cardiology) strongly preferred
• Excellent IV skills preferred
