Orlando, FL - Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer endorsed Kendrick Meek in Florida's U.S. Senate race today outside Orlando City Hall and praised Kendrick's lifelong commitment to public service. Last Friday, Gainesville Mayor-Elect Craig Lowe also endorsed Kendrick outside Gainesville City Hall. They join a long list of Florida mayors who stand with Kendrick in the Florida U.S. Senate race.
"Kendrick Meek is a hands-on leader who has always stood up for hardworking, middle class families and Orlando will be well served when he is fighting for our interests in the U.S. Senate. As colleagues in the state senate, I saw firsthand the sincerity and power of Kendrick's character. He will always put the interests of everyday people first. That is the type of leadership we need here in central Florida," said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer.
"Kendrick understands the concerns of the people in Gainesville and throughout Alachua County. For over a year, Kendrick has returned to Gainesville over and over again to hear from people in this community who need leaders to fight to help bring jobs to the region and guide our economy from recession to recovery. Gainesville is a leader in green energy and entrepreneurship and with Kendrick's help in the U.S. Senate, this city will continue to standout as an example of how cities can thrive in the new economy," said Gainesville Mayor-Elect Craig Lowe.
"Our campaign is honored to receive the endorsements of these leaders who shoulder a great weight as mayors of our cities. Where Mayor Dyer and Mayor-Elect Lowe stand, the rubber meets the road. For these mayors, unemployment data is not measured in numbers, but rather in real people who are personally affected by the economic downturn, and they deserve a senator who will fight hard to bring jobs to their cities, just as they are fighting hard everyday for people who call Orlando and Gainesville home. They will have an equal partner working with them to help their cities experience renewed economic prosperity," said Kendrick Meek, Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate.
Dyer and Lowe join other mayors such as Tallahassee Mayor John Marks and West Palm Beach Mayor Lois Frankel in endorsing Kendrick Meek for U.S. Senate.
Kendrick Meek has received endorsements from state and local officials from across the state. A full list of endorsers can be found at
