Miami Gardens, FL - Kendrick Meek released the following statement following the announcement that the U.S. economy added 290,000 jobs in April. Analysts expected a gain of about 190,000 jobs last month. The statement follows:
"The heavy burden of this recession was unfairly felt by middle class Florida families on Main Street who paid the price for Wall Street greed. Florida needs a hands-on, hardworking U.S. Senator committed to bringing new, long-term jobs to our state, and that is my fight. Throughout our state, entrepreneurs and local governments are partnering to build a green economy that will employ generations of Florida workers. Today's positive news will never erase the challenges so many of our families faced these last two years, but we are on the long road to economic recovery. "
