Former Nettleton basketball standout Blake Birks is a believer that everything works out according to God's plan.
But even though he feels like his signing with Rust College is where he is supposed to be, it doesn't stop him from wanting to prove what the schools that passed on him missed out on.
The emotional sharpshooter recently scored 10 points, had three boards and two steals in an NEMBCA All-Star Game.
"It's all in God's plan," Birks said. "I understand that, but me not making other college roosters pushed me more to go higher. Rust is a great start."
Birks East squad not only won the game (65-60), the night prior he won the free throw competition.
"It's kind of weird because it's the guys you play against," Birks said of the all-star event. "It's good to get to play together. I've always wanted to play in an all-star game, always watching the NBA All-Star Game, so that's how I treated this. I enjoyed it. I thank God for it."
