Stillman held it's annual United Negro College Fund (UNCF) Super Viewing Party Saturday, January 29 at the McDonald Hughes Center in Tuscaloosa. This year, UNCF paid tribute to music icon, Chaka Khan. The event garnered just over $9,500 in donations towards UNCF's Campaign for Emergency Student Aid.
Gregory Eubanks, Assistant Vice President for Development at Stillman said, "Due to the sluggish economy, thousands of UNCF students are in critical need of immediate help to pay off tuition and room and board balances in order to graduate. Donations to UNCF will ensure that a student stays in school and gets a college degree." Stillman's campaign to raise funds for UNCF will continue through March 2011.
Supporters of this year's Viewing Party were Buffalo Rock/Pepsi, Greene Beverage Company and Riverhill. Patrons for the event included Jim Walter Resources, Inc., Elizabeth Baptist Church, St. John Baptist Church, the Tuscaloosa Area Alumni Chapter of the National Alumni Association of Stillman College, the Eta Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the Delta Phi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., the Tuscaloosa Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the Tuscaloosa Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and the Beta Eta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
