Mary J. Blige the "Queen of Hip Hop Soul " graced the red carpet at the world premier of her documentary "The London Sessions" during this year's 14th annual Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. "The London Sessions" Mary J. Blige's 13th album of the same name has been said to be her best album since 2005 according to Billboard magazine. Directed by Sam Wrench, it's only fitting to have a documentary chronicling the singer's creative process as she writes and records with artist such as Sam Smith, Emeli Sande, and Disclosure.
Shot in black and white one clearly sees the uncut honesty that has allowed Mary J. Blige to have a sustainable career long after the 1990's "New Jack Swing" era which introduced her. In an interview with entertainment correspondent Tanisha LaVerne Grant, Mary J. Blige discusses what she wants her life long fans to walk away with after hearing the "The London Sessions"
