Alcorn State University continues to stand out as one of the nation’s best universities.
Alcorn has once again been ranked as a top university in the “Top Public Schools-Regional Universities (South) category of the 2017 U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges list.
Alcorn excelled in in the Best Historically Black Colleges and Universities category, advancing from number 27 on last year’s list to number 24. The University is also ranked number 35 in the Top Public Schools-Regional Universities (South) category and number 89 in the Regional Universities South Rankings.
U. S. News recognizes highly ranked schools in different categories. Criteria evaluated in the U. S. News rankings include academic reputation, retention and graduation rates, among others.
President Alfred Rankins Jr. expressed pride in Alcorn’s national recognition.
“This national recognition and upward movement is just another great example of how Alcorn is advancing its founding mission and commitment to academic excellence,” Rankins said. “We're pleased that U.S. News has recognized the efforts of our dedicated faculty, staff and students.”
U. S. News is one of the top references for future college students seeking the right school with a variety of degree programs.
