The event is free and open to the public.

The symposium launches the HBCU Pipeline Initiative to help increase the representation of minorities in all aspects of the entertainment industry.

“It will provide the opportunity for productive dialogue between the community, faculty, staff, students, members of the general public and industry professionals on what it takes to build a successful career in this creative economy,” said Dr. Tommie “Tonea” Stewart, dean, ASU's College of Visual and Performing Arts.

ABOUT HOLLYWOOD INSIDER STACY MILNER
This one-of-a-kind entertainment industry specific workshop is taught by Stacy Milner, author, lecturer and former executive assistant to the chairmen of both NBC & Paramount Studios. Milner, who also represents the 'Washington, D.C. Initiative' and the 'LA HBCU Internship Program,' will discuss “Navigating a Career in the Entertainment Industry,” a behind-the-scenes, high-definition look at what it takes to land a job and succeed in a career in the entertainment industry.

The objective of this ASU symposium is to be a conduit that bridges the gap between top qualified diverse candidates and the desire and commitment of the entertainment industry to develop a culturally and ethnically diverse workforce. This targeted outreach program educates and recruits the best and brightest for work in this multi-faceted industry. It also allows the opportunity to enhance and achieve the goals and aspirations of attendees by utilizing Stacy Milner's mission by partnering with major film studios, television networks, colleges and universities that demonstrate a commitment to working with our nation’s underrepresented minority groups.

“Stacy will take students inside the industry’s coveted inner-circle and discuss the HBCU LA Internship Program,” Stewart said.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN ENTERTAINMENT
Stewart said jobs in the entertainment industry includes acting, but also important behind-the scene professions, such as teachers and tutors on the film sets; media, music composers; security and transportation professionals; set design, construction, carpenters and location scouts; digital media and technology specialists; camera operators and electricians; accountants, bookkeepers, researchers, caterers; costumers, make-up and hair artists; seamstresses, casting, script supervisors; physical therapists and medical personnel; script writers, and even historians.
