Dr. Shawni Jackson-Triggs, assistant professor of business administration, and Stanley Williams, adjunct faculty at the Anheuser-Busch School of Business, have been selected as “Young Leaders of the Year” by the St. Louis American Foundation.

Jackson-Triggs and Williams were chosen from more than 130 total nominations. In 2011, the first year of the program, 20 African-American professionals, from throughout the St. Louis area and all age 40 and younger, will be honored.

“This is a wonderful tribute to Dr. Jackson-Triggs and Mr. Williams, as well as our entire University,” said Dr. Henry Givens, Jr., president of Harris-Stowe State University. “We are fortunate to have these two young leaders in the African-American community serving as teachers and role models for our students on a daily basis.”

The award seeks to recognize young leaders in the St. Louis region who are committed and compassionate about making a positive impact in the community. The awards will be presented at the Salute to Young Leaders Networking Awards Reception on Thursday, February 24, 2011, at the Chase Park Plaza hotel.

“Our goal is to highlight these young professionals and continue to make them feel a part of the St. Louis community,” said Dr. Donald M. Suggs, president and publisher of The St. Louis American. “This represents one small way we hope to continue to attract and retain minority professionals in our region.”
