Allen University is taking the lead to bring NSBE Jr. to the City of Columbia by bringing together youth, educators and professionals as they explore areas of science, technology, engineering, and math. We welcome elementary, middle and high school students (along with their parents and other concerned community-stakeholders) to convene at Allen University on Saturday, February 20th, 2016 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. in Gibbs Hall, for a spectacular event that will raise awareness on the importance of STEM education and its impact on the local and global economy. Participants will be exposed to the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and NSBE Jr. and we want to enhance students’ awareness of the STEM fields and to encourage students to fall in love with science via hands-on activities.

Community engineers, doctors, educators, and business professionals, churches and other community organizations are invited to join us for the day as well. Come share your expertise and help inspire the next generation of science, technology, engineering and mathematics leaders and learn how to become an affiliate with Allen University’s NSBE.

AU-NSBE Jr., began its youth chapter in Columbia, SC in 2014 with the goal of fulfilling the mission of the National Society of Black Engineers, which is to increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community. Sponsored by Allen University, AU-NSBE Jr. Chapter is run by youth officers of the Allen University Undergraduate chapter of NSBE under the guidance of its chapter advisor, Dr. Anthony D. Stewart (astewart@allenuniversity.edu)
