Texas Southern University, HGAC to begin new transportation internship program
Texas Southern University (TSU) and the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) have partnered to facilitate an internship program for TSU transportation studies students. A memorandum of understanding was signed in March.
“Given the transportation challenges facing the Houston area, linking the students’ educational foundation with the hands-on environment of HGAC will benefit the region as the Council leads our community in addressing our future,” said TSU President Austin Lane.
H-GAC is the region-wide association of local governments that provides information and services to support a variety of public arenas, including transportation. TSU interns will assist in planning and financing with a focus on federal sources. Students will enhance their knowledge of transportation in gathering freight data, traffic surveying and analysis, and transportation studies projects.
